Gatwick Airport invites local residents and stakeholders to give feedback on airspace change plans

London Gatwick Airport is launching a public consultation to gather views from local communities and stakeholders on proposed changes to one of its flight departure routes, known as Route 4. This is part of a wider airspace modernisation programme being carried out across the UK.

The consultation, which runs from 20 January to 28 April 2026, focuses on options for reintroducing satellite-based navigation procedures on Route 4 — technology that helps aircraft navigate more efficiently. Gatwick says the changes are needed because older ground-based navigation systems are being phased out, and other routes at the airport already use the updated system.

How people can share their views</p>

During the consultation period, people can respond in several ways:

Attend drop‑in events in local venues.

Join online webinars to learn more and ask questions.

View printed materials at designated public locations.

Submit comments online at route4acp.co.uk or by post.

Gatwick says all feedback received will be recorded and considered as the airport develops its final proposal. A summary of responses will be included in the consultation report that accompanies the next stage of the airspace change process.
